WARM WINTER (LOCAL) RUM PUNCH #cocktails #holidaydrink

Who says that rum punch must be saved as a late spring mixed drink? I myself have never been one to oppress alcohol dependent on season. Certainly, I experience stages when the climate is hotter or colder. That is the reason I attempted this warm bubbly form of the old summer exemplary.

Everything began while arranging my child's second birthday celebration party for the start of December. Indeed, it was on a Sunday evening. Also, OF COURSE, I was going to offer a type of mixed drink (just for the adults however, it's our award for enduring multi year olds). I realized I needed to accomplish something with this heavenly nearby rum a decent companion and his amigos make, I simply didn't know what.

I was looking into different mixed drinks utilizing rum, and continued stumbling into the great rum punch. At that point it struck me that a hotter, spicier, bolder adaptation of the exemplary may very well be the ticket. Sufficiently sure, you consolidate every one of the fixings together and it resembles a warm cup of comfort. You could substitute the rum with essentially some other alcohol, or don't include any alcohol whatsoever and make a mocktail for you non-consumers. Additionally it makes your home smell astonishing!

WARM WINTER (LOCAL) RUM PUNCH #cocktails #holidaydrink

FIRST, START WITH THESE INGREDIENTS:

  • Apple Cider
  • Cranberry Juice (I used 100% cranberry here but I would recommend a cranberry juice cocktail for a sweeter more balanced flavor. I ended up adding a little agave nectar which you wouldn’t have to do using regular cranberry juice.)
  • Fresh Cranberries
  • Pomegranate Seeds
  • Orange
  • Cinnamon Stick
  • Dash of Ground Clove
  • Dash of Ground Nutmeg
  • Dash of Ground Cinnamon
  • Rum (Distillery 36 now has a spiced rum that would be awesome, or liquor of choice, whiskey would be great as well, or no liquor at all if you want a mocktail)

NEXT, WARM IT ALL UP IN A POT:

  1. Use a 2:1 ratio, 2 parts cider to 1 part cranberry juice
  2. Quantities will depend on how many you’re serving, but for 4 drinks use 4 cups cider and 2 cups cranberry juice
  3. Put a few good handfuls of cranberries and pomegranate seeds in
  4. Add three cinnamon sticks
  5. Slice the orange and squeeze it a little bit as before you put it in the pot
  6. Sprinkle the spices in
  7. Stir and bring to a simmer over medium heat
  8. Cook for about 10 minutes

GET YOUR MUGS READY:

  1. Pour a couple ounces of the liquor into the mug

LADLE AND SERVE:

  1. Make sure you get a little bit of all the fruit and yumminess into the glass
